This pedal is affordable and actually sounds pretty damn good I play through a mesa/boogie combo or a blackstar, both tube, and basically bought this so I could have another "channel," i.e. a different distorted sound, without changing my amp EQ between songs. It actually sounds great! I'm a high-gain player, hard rock / metal a la Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and it does the job Surprisingly, I think it sounds better for lead than for rhythm. Its generally easier to find a good tone for crunchy power chords than for single-note shredding, but this pedal is better for lead. It has high end that cuts through nicely, despite capturing the darker tone that's characteristic of a Boogie's enhanced upper midrange EQ. Those same highs are less desirable when playing rhythm, because they can cause that "tiny radio" sound that sometimes comes with a stompbox (as opposed to genuine amp distortion) It's not perfect, its not the holy grail, but it would be great at 5x the cost

Pedal delivered. It seems that everything works, the sound is like the boss DS-1. But somehow the pedal responds strangely to other pedals and to the guitar, with the zero position of the volume control on the guitar, noise like 100 devils, and at the maximum everything is normal. The greatest noise is the background of the pedal itself not at the maximum gaine, but at about 15 hours.
